Pick Of The Day: Silk Chiffon

One thing that has been hot this Spring are blouses. They've come in a variety of hues, shapes, and sizes -- but nothing has been as prevalent in them as silk chiffon combination this spring.

This layering effect has been what designers and the public have been craving the most. Lightweight and slightly etheral in look -- it's something that has been dressed up and down for both work and play.

I, too have been obsessed with this trend. I love the look of it, no matter what it's paired with. To me, it's so elegant and can be made to be uber feminine or edgy.

This blouse by 3.1 Phillip Lim is a great example of this trend -- beautifully tailored and in a great neutral colour -- there are multiple ways this gorgeous shirt can be worn.

Nicole Richie And Macys Team Up

The 'Fashion Star', Nicole Richie already having a successful fashion line titled, Winter Kate and another accessory line, House of Harlow will be designing this exclusively for Macy's this fall and will be calling it, Nicole Richie for Impulse.

This collection, exclusive to the impulse departments in Macy's stores which cater to generation Y, will be available in 100 Macy's stores come September. The collection will offer 24-30 styles and will boast with prints and jewel tones; a signature Richie is known for, and a trend that is large right now.

While in the past these capsules are sold over six weeks, Martine Reardon, Macy’s Inc.’s chief marketing officer feels that because of the popularity and following Nicole has, the collection will more than likely sell out in two.

I'm anxious to see what this collection looks like.

Cropped Pants

Fashion is always about re-inventing something from the past and making it new and appealing once more. While thousands of varying designs have been made for pants, the upcoming trend for pants has people both loving and questioning how strong this particular look will take over.

Currently, designers have opted for a cropped look in the leg of a pant. Instead of the pants falling neatly around your shoes -- they've decided to stop the hem just above the ankle -- showing a bit of skin and displaying your footwear.

To balance this look so we all don't feel like Steve Urkel, they've often been paired with longer tunics and jackets.

Finding Myself In Fashion

Jeanne Beker, a name that is synonymous with fashion has written a book, titled, "Finding Myself In Fashion" that is a must read for women. The Canadian fashion icon opens up about her life and career in the industry to give reads a candid look into her life.

It was a book that I had been wanting to pick up for months now and finally had the opportunity to sit down with recently.

Once I began to turn the pages, I couldn't stop.

It really resonated with me not only as a woman, but as someone in the industry looking to find that perfect balance of work and family.

Beker gives insight into the highs and lows of her career -- admitting that the industry is a fast paced machine unsure that anyone can ever keep up with as it's constantly evolving. Not only this, but she dives into her personal life, her past marriage and relationships, the wounds she's endured and healed as a result and her daughters that are her everything.

Her writing style is so effortless and well written that is easily transports the reader into the timeline of her life -- so much so that you feel like your a fly on the wall, peaking into this amazing woman's life.

This book not only allows you to pick up and connect with Jeanne on a personal level, but will have you cheering her on as she shares her much valued insight and perspecitve on the lessons she's learnt, the failures she dusted herself off from, and the path she continues to create for the rest of us who continue to love fashion.

Vacay Getaway

It's that time of year; people are chatting about the beach, sunshine, and weekend getaways to cottages. Time slots are noticeably being scheduled off at work, and everyone is dreaming of the blamy summer days ahead.

I too, am in that group. I will be jetting off next month for a week to relax in Hilton Head Island, a regular summer spot for me -- so much so I would call it a second home.

Because of this, I'm craving beach side cocktails, garbage romance novels, summer dresses, sunshine, and the feeling of having sand wiggle between my toes. Whilst online, I saw this picture and it set me further into my day dream state.

While Spring normally brings around beautiful shades to play with in our closets, I think most would agree that this season has extra voltage -- especially with the neon trend hovering.

From Red Lips To Red Soles

Christian Louboutin is branching out. The famous shoe designer has announced that a line of beauty products are in the works for his brand. While having been approached to create products with many companies, Louboutin, will be working with New York-based Batallure Beauty LLC on this new venture.

The details of what products will be created have yet to be revealed as Christian is being secretive about the manner. He has however teased that they will be, “Very constructed, quite different and unexpected,” WWD reports. Louboutin also adds that like his shoes, his beauty products are also about empowering a woman.

While the launch date is set for Spring of 2013, Louboutin and company have also said that the designer will take his time to make sure everything is perfected and tailored exactly to the vision he has in mind.

Known for his eye in detail, it's no doubt that the packaging and presentation of the materials will be flawless.
