{ Beauty Crime: Roots }
There is one beauty crime that people continue to embark on - and that's the laziness of not colouring your hair often enough. Sorry blondes (and I've been there) - but you all are the worst for this.
If you've changed your hair colour, it needs to be re-coloured every 4-6 weeks at a maximum length to keep that elegant, chic look you were striving for initially. Otherwise, you end up looking tacky, sloppy and unmanaged.
I get it - hair colouring can be expensive and a pain. It's constant upkeep and maintenance can be a drain on your wallet and time. But - you knew that before you dyed your hair, no?
One way to stretch the time between dyes is to choose a colour close to your natural shade - this way, when your hair grows in, most people won't notice - or at least the contrast between your hair colour and the dye won't be an eye sore. Blondes - sorry, you don't have that luxury.
Another quick solution is to run to the nearest convenience store and pick up a box of "root touch ups" hair dye in your shade. I personally am not one to push the "dye in a box" as I always think it's best to have a professional do it - but if you're confident and know what you're doing with it, go for it.
So take a peak in the mirror - if you can see a skunk line down the middle of your head - it may be time to pick up the phone and schedule an appointment with your hair dresser. Take some time for you - you'll be feeling chic and stylish again in no time.

ReplyDeletebut now that its summer i have an urge for lighter brown hair...lol
So true, but the latest two tone style helps, thank god, and yes, i have been guilty of this crime a time or two ha ha ha, love love, jemina, xoxo
ReplyDeleteI've never dyed my hair. I hate the look of roots, but I know that I'm too lazy to keep up with them. My hair may be better left uncolored.
ReplyDeleteEek. Yes... I cringe when I see someone's undyed roots!

I totally agree with this post! I did put some peek-a-boo highlights in my hair, but because it's not highlighted all over, my natural colored hair on top overlaps it so that it's not apparent when my roots start to show.
ReplyDeleteI disagree with blondes not having the option of dying their hair a colour natural to their own colour. I have a golden, strawberry blonde and and dye my hair a lighter blonde and the difference is not near a skunk line. Also baby powder between touch ups works wonders. ;)
